Summer LBO Model Workshop
Looking to build technical Excel modeling skills? The basics for any investment involve understanding the historical financial statements of a company and forecasting a financial projection. In the Summer LBO Model Workshop, you will be equipped to build a leveraged buyout model in Excel. Designed for those pursuing careers in private equity, investment banking, consulting (PE sponsor clients) or entrepreneurship through acquisition. Through this five-part series, you will build a fully-functioning three statement cash flow model with purchase price and leverage assumptions to calculate an estimated IRR for a proposed buyout transaction of a company that will be assigned at the beginning of the workshop. This program is right for you if you: Are looking to build financial modeling skills Desire to deepen your understanding of valuation and investor return expectations Already have a general understanding of financial statements Are a member of the Duke student or alumni community Program structure includes five virtual sessions via Zoom daily from 3:00pm to 3:45pm.
Each session is accompanied by an Excel based pre-assignment with video tutorial:
July 13th: Forecasting EBITDA
July 14th: Forecasting CapEx, and changes in Working Capital
July 15th: Leverage assumptions and financing structure
July 16th: Activating a fully functioning 3 statement financial model with a cash sweep
July 17th: Sensitizing purchase price assumptions and IRR projections
